NoodleTools and NoodleBib Express are online citation builders. NoodleTools is more robust and offers more features than NoodleBib Express, but NoodleBib Express is easier to use.

To use NoodleTools, you must login with the school's username and password (available on the Citations tab of the library website), then create a personal account. Once you've done this, you will be able to create as many works cited lists as you want, and save them for as long as you are a student. You can add as many citations as you want to a single works cited list and then export the entire list to a Word document.

To use NoodleTools, go to the Library website, select the Citations tab, and choose NoodleTools. If you are off campus you will need your H number and the school username and password found on the Citations tab of the Library website. Once in NoodleTools, you will need to login to your own account, or create an account if you haven't already done so. Once you are logged in, you will see a dashboard screen. Select Bibliography from the options on this screen. Then select either APA or MLA Advanced as your citation style. Finally, select the kind of source you wish to cite (a book, a journal article, etc.). From here, simply follow the instructions, answer the questions, and fill in the information you are asked for. Once you've filled everything out, NoodleTools will produce a citation and add it to your works cited list. You can continue adding citations until you are finished and then export the citations into a Word document.

NoodleTools Express (formerly NoodleBib Express) does not require you to login to the school's account, nor does it require you to create your own account. However, because you are not logged in, NoodleBib Express does not save citations or works cited lists for you. You must create each individual citation, copy and paste it into your paper, and then go on to the next citation.

To get started with NoodleTools Express, go to the library's homepage and select the Citations tab. Select NoodleTools Express from the list on the left hand side. Once in NoodleTools Express, select the citation style you prefer - MLA or APA. Then from the drop-down menu, choose what you are citing (a book, a journal article, etc.). From there, simply follow the instructions and answer the questions you are asked. Once you've answered the questions and filled in the information NoodleTools asks for, it wil generate a citation that you can copy and paste into your paper. Note that once you navigate away from that webpage, the citation will not be saved for you.
